Detoxing Your Home & Creating A Healthy Home Biome

Create a healthier life by understanding
what leads to mold toxicity
and ways we can assist

Workshop Location: Herban Wellness – 103 Lake St. S., Kirkland, WA 98033
Date: Sunday September 28th, 2025
Time: Noon – 2pm
Cost: *Free - Space is limited, please register*

Once upon a time when life was simpler there was less toxins in your home; there was also constant airflow due to gaps in building structures and windows. While this didn’t create the coziest environment in the winter, it allowed for airflow that we have all but cut off today unless you’re at the beach or in the forest. As building materials evolved in the mid-1900s, so did the use of both permeable and non-permeable products in construction. The permeable products hold moisture between the non-permeable and then trap them in a world of airtight hvac systems, sealed windows and doors. This air tight world is creating a host of health issues with toxic molds.

As the days grow shorter and we begin to spend more time indoors, the spaces we live in become even more important to our well-being. In this gathering, we’ll come together to learn simple, practical ways to create healthier homes and bodies before winter sets in. We’ll talk about how mold develops in today’s homes, what signs to look for, and how to take preventative steps that anyone can use—from opening windows on breezy days to using fans, scrubbers, or even canine mold detection services.

We’ll also explore natural tools and herbs that support detoxification, helping both your home and your body clear out what no longer serves. Alteratives are herbs that support the body’s natural detox pathways — the lungs, liver, kidneys, skin, and digestive system. They help clear metabolic waste and toxins, while also gently restoring vitality and improving the body’s ability to take in nutrients. In our class, we’ll explore how these herbs can be used not just for “bad blood,” as once described, but as powerful allies for cleansing and renewal.

Think of it as seasonal care for your living space and your minds and bodies - Just as you might tend to your own wellness in preparation for the colder months.

This workshop is designed to be interactive and community-centered, offering time for questions, shared stories, and learning together. Come ready to connect, gain practical skills, and leave with simple strategies for creating a healthier, more vibrant home environment this winter.

Facilitator Bios

Corinna Salas began her professional journey in textiles and clothing design, where she developed a deep appreciation for aesthetics, texture, and function. Her creative path eventually led her into the world of interior home design, with a particular passion for crafting comfortable, nurturing, and health-conscious living spaces.  A turning point in Corinna’s life came through personal experiences with mold toxicity, coupled with witnessing the significant health challenges it brought to friends and loved ones. These experiences sparked a deeper commitment to understanding the impact of environmental health—especially toxic mold—and how to support those affected by it. Driven by a natural affinity for helping people, animals, and plants thrive in their healthiest form, Corinna now brings her care and creativity to the work of identifying and addressing indoor mold issues. While she acknowledges that fungi have an important role in the natural world, she believes that when toxic mold invades our homes, it’s time to act—seeking it out and eliminating what doesn’t belong.

Catalina (dog) bio: As a young pup, I've been trained to use my nose to find truffles in the forests of the PNW and to detect early stages of Parkinson's disease in humans. Now in my mature years, I've been trained by Bill Whitestine (CMT), the early pioneer in animal mold search, to expertly detect the 18 types of mold known to be toxic to humans.

My breed is Lagotto Romagnolo, and we have hair, not fur. So, I promise not to leave any trace of being in your space, plus some of my human friends with allergy sensitivities find it easier to be around me because I don't carry the same allergens as other breeds with fur.
